Our Church and Its History October of 1921 was when the first group of Truth students gathered to become what is now known as Unity Church in Milwaukee. The group incorporated on June 8, 1927 as the First Unity Center. In 1950 the name was changed to Unity Church of Christianity and in 1995 to its current name, Unity Church in Milwaukee. The church first met at the Commerce Building on 4th and Wells in Milwaukee and then moved to the Pabst mansion on W. Highland Avenue. In 1939 they moved to the Banker’s Building. In 1949 the congregation purchased a funeral home on North Avenue where they stayed until 1973 when they bought a YMCA building on the corner of 73rd and Milwaukee Ave. in Wauwatosa. This is the present home of the church. |
